Medical Staffing Mobile App for the US Market

The Challenge

A US-based healthcare staffing operator needed a mobile platform capable of connecting nurses and healthcare professionals with open shifts — in real time, across multiple geographic zones. The solution had to support geofence-based shift eligibility and notifications, scale across multiple brand identities through a white-label architecture, and be positioned for aggressive go-to-market launch. Existing tools on the market were either too rigid or lacked the compliance and precision required for the US healthcare staffing landscape.

Our Approach

We adopted a marketing-first engineering mindset from day one — designing the onboarding experience, notification system, and agency-facing portal to maximize activation and retention, not just functionality. The geofencing system was architected using native location APIs with configurable radius triggers, allowing agencies to define custom coverage zones. The white-label engine was built as a configuration layer over the core app, enabling rapid deployment of new branded instances without code changes. Throughout the project, we collaborated closely with the client's marketing team to align feature prioritization with growth metrics.

What We Built

A cross-platform React Native mobile application with a robust .NET backend, supporting iOS and Android simultaneously. Core capabilities include real-time geofencing with push notifications for shift eligibility, white-label configuration for multiple agency brands, automated shift matching and acceptance workflows, GPS-verified clock-in/clock-out, compliance document management, and an agency management portal with analytics. The app was built with marketing conversion in mind — frictionless signup, personalized shift feeds, and referral mechanics baked into the product from launch.

Results & Impact

The app is actively used by healthcare staffing agencies across the United States, connecting healthcare professionals with open shifts in real time across many geographic zones. White-label deployment enabled the client to onboard multiple additional agency brands without changes to the core codebase. Geofencing-based notifications significantly improved shift acceptance rates within eligible zones. Time-to-fill for open shifts dropped substantially compared to manual coordination. The client secured enterprise contracts directly attributable to the app's professional UX and agency portal capabilities.
